If I could tell the story in words, I wouldn't need to lug around a camera. ~Lewis Hine

iPhone macro

A few months ago I got some lenses for my iPhone at a ridiculously cheap price, so I started playing around with the macro one a bit. It was pretty cool and got in way closer that I thought it would, but all it really did was make me want to get a macro for my DSLR when a wide angle has been next on my list for ages.

I also took a macro shot of my eye, but I'll spare you that one. :)

Glinda/Galinda

Of course this is ridiculously late, but I just remembered about two things that happened during Hurricane Sandy that I forgot to share on here. First, besides a lot of downed branches and a few trees, the storm didn't do any major damage in our area. Our neighbors' tree fell, blocking the road and taking down power lines with it, leaving us without power for 3 days. We had to toss everything in the fridge, but the important stuff got to stay.

I was at the grocery store the morning of the storm to get a few last-minute things when I overheard this little gem:

College-aged girl on the phone: Hey Mom, so I got you some tuna, but did you want mayonnaise, too? Cause I'm guessing you're not just gonna sit there with a can of tuna and a fork. I got a bunch of snacks -- chips, crackers.....I really wasn't sure what to get so I just got snacky stuff. See, this is why I wanted you to make me a list last night. But no, you were annoyed with me and didn't want to talk to me, so here I am, by myself at the grocery store and all you're gonna be eating are some chips and a can of tuna.

I had to flee the aisle, I was laughing so hard. Then, two days later, this happened:

Library, in the quiet study section, where two people felt the need to shout their entire conversation. They had been talking for several minutes before the good stuff started:
- I saw you ignore me the other day.
- What? When?
-You was walking down the street with them two white girls. I waved and I yelled "hey", but no, you couldn't be bothered cause you was with them white girls.
- Oh.
- I've known you for years, but no, couldn't be bothered cause of some white girls.
- Well, yeah. Say, I'm about to go get a free hoagie down the street. You coming?
- You going right now? Cause I gotta get in that computer lab and send my resume to someone. But damn, I'd like a free hoagie.
- Yeah, I'm going now.
- All right, well you enjoy your free hoagie. Damn, I wish I had a free hoagie.
- Well, good to see you again. Say, what's you name? I forget.
- Glinda.
- Galinda, that's right. That's right.
- No, Glinda.
- Glinda. Ga-linda. Ga-linda. Ga-linda. I gotcha now. Ga-linda. I won't be forgetting that.

Zoey

Almost every photo I've shot in the last 2 months was for a paid photo shoot, so I couldn't share them here, but at last I broke out my camera on a regular old day.

I took Zoey to a farm park nearby to get some surprise photos of her as part of her parents' Christmas gift. The part of the park we went to was not exactly kid friendly -- small, steep paths through the woods, lots of rocks to maneuver around -- we both came back covered in mud. It was awesome. :)

Looks comfy, right?

Back in the car for location #2.

Day #2. You can see I put a lot of effort into her hair. Not.

Last bits of summer (never mind it's the end of September)

We're closing the pool this week. Pardon me while I go off in a corner and bawl.

Mom's preferred way of cooling off. :)

Futbol!

Playing with Julia to get her ready for her new soccer team. She's good!

I did not get any pictures of when my parents joined in our impromptu game and my mom promptly began shoving me and Julia. She justified it with: "This will happen in her games -- I'm just preparing her!" Right. I'm pretty sure Jen got that debacle on video.
